Feliz Navidad by Cristián

We want to thank you for supporting our project and hearing our voices. We never thought we were going to touch so many people with our words.

Due to lack of resources, we hope to return next year in late January. Your support has motivated us and although there are many obstacles in this project, we know that our voices are stronger!

We hope to see you again next year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Dario’s Story

Posted: December 13, 2010 in My life

Hi, I am Dario. I am 13 years old and I’m loving, cheerful, happy, and when my teammates make me something and I’m not playing,  I get very angry.

The moment that changed my life was when my brother died and when we went to bury him and my mother was hospitalized.

The people who changed my life are my parents and my siblings. My dream is to go to the U.S. and drive a plane in Mexico.

Sergio’s Story

Posted: December 13, 2010 in My life, My town

My name is Sergio. I have 12 years and I was born in 1998. My birthday is April 8. The sport I like is soccer and I want to be a great soccer player.

I have many friends who are very cool. I like being a good person with the elderly. I do not like to be bitter because why  would I want to make my life miserable if I know that the problem will be solved. Everything in life has a solution, but death.

What changed my life was the death of my father. It was in a fire of my town and as a good citizen he went to the forest to help. He was gone for  about six hours. In the afternoon a very ugly wind came, and the fire became higher, about four meters high. It started to rain and the fire was extinguished. About half an hour later, it was announced that a man was found burned.

My mom was very scared and told my brother that we should see what has happened. When we got there my brother and my grandfather went to look for him. Took about 10 minutes when my brother returned saying that they have found him. My mom asked if he was okay and my brother said he found him dead.

For me it was the saddest thing of my life. Since that day my life was stopped and I wonder why my dad if he never did anything wrong. He never scolded me or hit me. He loved us, but God knows why he does things. What hurts me most is that my cousins and friends say that their  father came or that their dad loves them. I feel very bad about it. I tell them that they should appreciate their parents because it is very sad to be alone, it’s as if your heart breaks in pieces.

Liquor and I

Posted: December 6, 2010 in My life, Poem

by Jesús, 14 years old.

I, being a young man of 14 years

and having no experience with alcohol

I decided to drink only by the temptation to feel that bitter taste

produced by barley,

whose plants are like a vine that catch me

and enclose me as if I were in a cage.

And helplessly I decide to drink and drink

So I can forget that alcohol

is taking over my body every day

and my body already looks like a bottle of liquor.

My body the bottle and my blood the liquor

and I drink and drink to forget that the bottle is killing me alive

so goodbye.

My Life

Posted: November 9, 2010 in My life, Story

by Melissa, 13 years old.

My life is a failure. I do not like my lifestyle; I’ve always wanted to live somewhere else. I do not like that my mom scolds me a lot. We don’t understand each other; we are always fighting and I am very quarrelsome. But I believe that to improve the way we live, we have to believe in God and talk to him and tell him all our problems because if we ask from the bottom of our heart and in his name, he will help us and will solve our problems.

Why do I write this about God? Because I am Christian since two years ago and my church is called Sinai. Although people think that I’m a sister because the people of my town make fun because I am Christian and I’m not Catholic and they reject us. They criticize us, but we do not surrender or feel bad because we have faith in God.

This is a part of my life and I am not ashamed to be Christian, and even though I do not like my lifestyle, I’m not ashamed or embarrassed. On the contrary,  I’m proud to be Christian and I have wonderful priests.

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.” (Ephesians 5:15-16)

Wisdom is far more valuable than rubies! (Job 28:18)
